Flats Fishing Frenzy: Early Morning Thrills in St. Petersburg

I had a blast guiding a Mate's Fee Only Card Shared trip with SRS Adventures in St. Petersburg, Florida today. May is a great time for flats fishing here, with the warmer waters bringing in plenty of fish. We met up at 1:00 am, which is early, but it's worth it to beat the heat and get the best bite. The weather was partly cloudy, with a chance of strong storms, but that didn't stop us from having a great day on the water.

We hit the flats and tried out a variety of techniques to see what would work best. The water conditions were great, which made spotting fish easier. It wasn't long before we hooked into some action. The highlight of the day was when thenna landed a nice Red Snapper. That fish put up a good fight, but thenna handled it like a pro. We saw a few other species cruising around too, which kept things interesting.

Throughout the day, we moved around to different spots, trying to find where the fish were biting best. The cloudy weather actually worked in our favor, keeping the temperature comfortable and the fish active. We had to keep an eye on those possible storms, but luckily they stayed away and let us fish in peace. It's days like this that remind me why I love guiding – good fishing, nice weather, and happy folks on the boat.
