Dawn Patrol: Epic Red Snapper Battle on St. Pete's Sizzling Flats

I had a great day out on the water with Shankaramurthy for our Mate's Fee Only Card Shared trip with SRS Adventures. We met up in St. Petersburg at 1:00 am, which is pretty early, but it's worth it to beat the heat in June. We headed out to the flats, and the conditions were just right. The water was great, which made sight fishing a breeze. We spent the morning flipping and pitching, trying to entice the fish. It was partly cloudy, which actually helped us spot the fish easier without the glare. We kept an eye on the sky though, as storms were possible later in the day.

The highlight of the trip was when Shankaramurthy hooked into a nice Red Snapper. It put up a good fight, but they managed to reel it in. Measuring in at 23 inches, it was a solid catch for sure. We high-fived and took a quick photo before releasing it back. That's what makes these trips fun - the thrill of the catch and the satisfaction of a job well done.
