Flats Fishing Frenzy: Red Snapper Triumph in St. Petersburg

Hey there! Just wrapped up an awesome fishing trip out of St. Petersburg with thenn. We kicked off our Mate's Fee Only Card Shared trip at 1:00 am, which might seem early, but June is prime time for fishing in these parts. The weather was partly cloudy with a chance of storms, but that didn't slow us down one bit.

We hit the flats and man, the water was great. Perfect conditions for what we had planned. We mixed it up with some sight fishing, drift fishing, and even threw out the popping cork. It's all about keeping things interesting and finding what works, you know? The fish were playing hard to get at first, but that's part of the fun.

After a bit of searching, we finally hooked into a nice Red Snapper. Let me tell you, that fish put up a fight! Thenn did a great job reeling it in - a solid 23-incher. That's a catch to be proud of, for sure. We high-fived and got it on ice quick. The rest of the day, we kept at it, trying different spots and techniques. Even when the fish weren't biting, just being out on the water was a blast.
