Partly cloudy skies set the stage for an epic fishing adventure in Florida KY!

I had a great time guiding a Mate's Fee Only Card Shared trip with SRS Adventures out of St. Petersburg, Florida. June is a great month for flats fishing here, with the warmer waters bringing more fish into the shallows. We met up with Varsha at 1:00 am in Florida KY, ready for an early start to beat the heat and catch the best bite.
The weather was partly cloudy, which can be perfect for sight fishing on the flats. We had great water conditions, making it easier to spot fish. We used a mix of techniques - sight fishing, popping cork, and live bait fishing. These methods are all effective for the species we were after. The highlight of the day was when Varsha hooked into a nice Red Snapper. It put up a good fight, but she played it well and we got it to the boat. Measuring in at 23 inches, it was a solid catch and definitely something to be proud of.
Throughout the day, we moved around the flats, looking for good spots and signs of fish activity. The partly cloudy skies kept things comfortable, though we kept an eye out for any possible storms. That's just part of fishing in Florida in June - you've got to be ready for anything. But the weather held out for us, and we had a smooth trip overall. It's always fun to see someone connect with a good fish, especially when using techniques like sight fishing where you really get to see the action unfold.
