Hey there! Just got back from an awesome Flats fishing trip out of St. Petersburg with SRS Adventures. May's a great time to hit the flats here in Florida - the water's warming up and the fish are getting active. We met up at 1:00 am, which might seem early, but it's perfect for catching the bite before the sun gets too high. The weather was on our side with clear conditions all day, and the water was great for spotting fish.
We tried out a variety of techniques on this Mate's Fee Only Card Shared trip. The flats were productive, and we had some good action throughout the day. The highlight was definitely landing a nice Red Snapper. These guys put up a great fight in shallow water, and it's always a thrill to see that flash of red as they come up. We worked different spots, adjusting our approach based on what the fish were doing.
The trip was a blast from start to finish. It's always fun introducing folks to the unique challenges of flats fishing. You've got to be stealthy, make accurate casts, and read the water. We saw plenty of fish activity, even when they weren't biting. That's the beauty of the flats - there's always something going on, whether it's spotting tailing fish or watching the bait move.
